About the Mobile Visitor Center (MVC)

The New Mexico Mobile Visitor Center (MVC) program aims to bring the resources of the Public Lands Interpretive Association to communities across the state. Our staff will set up at events in communities and public lands throughout summer and fall of 2024, distributing free maps, a series of five new guidebooks for recreation around the state, and America the Beautiful federal public lands passes, free to all veterans, active military, gold star families, and individuals with disabilities.

Mobile Visitor Center Booklets

This series of five booklets will connect you to a myriad of resources for getting outdoors in New Mexico. Click the links below to view the booklets and links to helpful resources.

Destinations

These are the currently confirmed events where the MVC will be traveling:

October 12, 2024

Valles Caldera Fall Festival

Valles Caldera National Monument, NM

Celebrate this incredible outdoor destination like nothing else in New Mexico. We will be on-site 10am to 4pm with other presenters and organizations. There are guest speakers, guided hikes, and after hours programs throughout this week-long celebration.

October 19, 2024

Corks & Shells Wine & Pistachio Festival

Alamogordo, NM

This festival celebrates everything southern New Mexico has to offer. Join us at Alameda Park from Noon to 6 pm to shop with vendors of all kinds, sample pistachio-based foods and wines, and more. We'll provide guidebooks and maps for the region for sale, as well as free copies of our MVC booklets!

Visit our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates on these events and any changes!

This program is made possible by a grant from the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division, with the aim of marketing the wide variety of outdoor experiences our state has to offer.
